Tombeau/Mosquée Abû’l-Awn (910/1504)

Historique
Le complexe consiste en une salle de prière couverte par 6 coupoles surmontée par un petit minaret au nord-est, les 2 accès s’ouvrent au nord (aujourd’hui condamné par une boutique) et à l’est face au cimetière. On trouve aussi un sabîl (obstrué), une salle funéraire avec la tombe du fondateur Shams al-Dîn Muhammad Abû’l-‘Awn (disparu le 2 rabi’ II 910/12.IX.1504)[1] et un cimetière avec un cénotaphe Mamluk. Une mosquée à Jaljulîya et le haram de Sidna ‘Alî à Arsûf/Herzlîya portent aussi son nom.
Le complexe présente des similitudes avec la mosquée du shaykh Khalîd à Gaza[2] permettant cette datation.
Epigraphie
909-922/1504-1516. Décret sur le mur du tombeau[3].
« It is order of the sultan al-Ghawrî that none of the
children of Abû’l-‘Awn, his relatives, servants or entourage should be
harassed, separated, and anyone who sees this should honour and respect them and
when they come under someone’s protection they should not be abused ».
910/1504. Mosquée Abû’l-‘Awn, épitaphe 2+6 lignes sur une tombe[4].
« This is the burial place of the servant yearning to
God, the exalted arbiter of righteous religious learning and practice (‘ālim
wa ‘āmil), the trustworthy, the humble, the ascetic, guide of the
seekers of the path, model of kings, the great pole, possessor of divine
knowledge, Abūʾl-ʿAwn al-Jaljūlī … head
of the Qadiriyya on the borders of Palestine and the Muslim kingdom. May God
spread on all Muslims his blessing in this world and in the hereafter through
Muḥammad and his family ».
